In short
- Each venue sets its own cancellation terms. You see them in full, before you pay.
- The refund is calculated by the same rule that is shown to you — not decided afterwards.
- Rounding always favours you.
- If a venue cancels on you, you are refunded in full.
1. How refunds are decided
Every venue publishes a cancellation policy, and you must be shown it in full before you can pay. That policy — not this page — governs your booking.
The refund amount is calculated from that policy by the system, using the same schedule the venue published and the number of days between your cancellation and the event. The owner's cancel screen, your booking page, and the refund that is actually issued all read from one calculation, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you receive.
2. The standard schedule
A venue that has not set its own terms uses this schedule, which is also the wording of the template we provide to owners:
- 2.1 100% refunded when you cancel 30 or more days before the event.
- 2.2 50% refunded when you cancel between 14 and 29 days before the event.
- 2.3 0% refunded when you cancel fewer than 14 days before the event.
- 2.4 The deposit is not refundable. It secures the date and is what the venue keeps if the event does not go ahead.
A venue may offer terms more generous than this. Where a venue's published policy and this page differ, the venue's published policy applies to your booking.
3. When the venue cancels
If a venue cancels a confirmed booking, you receive a full refund of everything you paid, including the deposit, regardless of how close the event is. A venue's cancellation schedule applies to cancellations by the renter; it is not a way for a venue to keep your money after cancelling on you.
4. How the money is returned
Refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe. Most card refunds appear within 5–10 business days, though the exact timing is set by your bank and is outside our control.
Where a partial refund applies, it is allocated against non-deposit payments first and the most recent payment first. Rounding is always resolved in your favour — where a fraction of a cent is in question, you receive it.
5. Sales tax
Sales tax collected on a booking is refunded in the same proportion as the amount refunded. We do not keep tax on money that is returned to you.
6. Subscriptions
Venue owner subscriptions are separate from bookings. A subscription can be cancelled at any time and remains active until the end of the period already paid for. We do not pro-rate a partial month, and we do not bill again after cancellation.
If you were charged after cancelling, tell us and we will refund it in full.
7. If you disagree with a refund
Contact us before disputing the charge with your bank. Write to [email protected], or use the contact form at /contact.
We keep a complete record of every booking: what you were shown, what you agreed to, when, and how the refund was calculated. We will show you that record. If the calculation was wrong, we will correct it — including where the error was ours and the money is already gone.
8. Nothing here removes your legal rights
Consumer protection law in Florida and Puerto Rico gives you rights that no policy can take away, including in Florida under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and in Puerto Rico under the regulations of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO). Where anything on this page conflicts with those rights, those rights apply.
